Amit Cabessa was born in 1977 in Kibbutz Magal. In his youth he studied at ‘Givat Haviva’ high school of arts. After finishing his army service he started painting independently. During that period his work was exhibited at the ‘Nocturne Bateva’ gallery located at Bney Zion village. In 2001 he started his studies at the Bezalel Academy of Art And Design, during which he studied painting and drawing with the painter Marek Yanai, a relationship that remained influential later on. In 2003 Cabessa left Jerusalem and opened his own studio in Tel Aviv. During his first year in Tel Aviv Cabessa became acquainted with the artist Ofer Lalluche whom later on employed him as his personal apprentice. In September 2004 Cabessa exhibited 12 works of pastel on paper at his solo exhibition “Couple” in Kibbutz Magal gallery. In July 2004 Cabessa participated in a group exhibition at Dima Gallery in Paris. His 3-months stay in Paris included long hours of study at the Louver and the Orsay museum. with his return to Israel in November 2005 he had his solo exhibition “Self Portrait” at the Givat Haim art gallery. In July 2006 he participated in an outdoor group exhibition “Under The Bridge” in Emek Heffer. Three works were stolen from that exhibition, one of them was Cabessa's painting “A Portrait Of Shani In Landscape”. all works were finally found undamaged. Amit Cabessa currently teaches painting and drawing, lives and works in Kibbutz Magal.
